+1

If you really need to run windows (I need it for logbook pro) I just boot it up in it's own window using VMware Fusion. Ironically Windows runs better on a Mac.

In three years I think it may have locked up once because I was running like 4 different video editing programs, and firefox has crashed maybe 5 times, again usually because I have 15 tabs open.

I took a look at the Mac today at the local electronics shop and it was nice , so when the old man gets home I,ll have him definitely take a look .

Thanks again.

Looked at them the other day, you can get a 13" macbook pro for $1100 bucks and that's a computer that will last you 5 years, easy.

Or you could get a pc laptop for half that price that will work just as well and last as long. Before anyone goes all Apple on me, I've had and used both. If you aren't braindead or brainwashed, you can be just as happy with a pc as an Apple for a lot less money. Not trying to sell pc's or bash Apple products. Not trying to start a pc vs mac thread either. Just an opinion and you know what they say about opinions....

I'll bash pc's all day long. I went through three top end laptops before I finally caved and went apple. Dell, flat out died after a year and a half. HP, one year in and the back lighting on the screen failed, and the thing locked up daily. Went back to Dell, one year and if died too. ***?!? Bought a $1200 12" Macbook 4 years ago in a pinch. Last PC locked up and I needed something NOW, no reasearch. Walked into Best Buy, walked out 10 minutes later with the Mac.... still as fast as the day I bought it, firefox has locked up MAYBE 5 times. Runs like it was brand new.

Sure you can spend half as much, but like all things in life you get what you pay for.

Dell and HP...there's your problem. Nuff said. Bash away...it's your money. I'll put a $600 or $700 ASUS or Toshiba against an Apple any day for a "on the road computer." After 5 years, I can buy a new one (if necessary) with whatever the new current tech is and still be around the $1200 for the original MAC. Like I said before, not trying to start the old PC vs MAC war. Just giving the OP something else to think about. Check out prices at Newegg.com for some good comparisons. Yes you get what you pay for and sometimes you pay for a name.
