It's already out on the AvWeb e-mail I just got, and many other places.

For some reason I couldn't get back to the thread right away to edit my post.

Regardless, definitely some poor communication and some very lucky rampers. Getting pinned between a 60,000lb tug and a 747 would be sure to make your day a lot worse.
Nope..... There was a lack of communication but it wasn't on the pilots side.

If they were being towed into the gate, why have any engines running at all?

So, based on the scuttlebutt - what actually DID happen?

Really?

The residual thrust of that APU must be more than anyone could have imagined.

Perhaps the subjunctive weren't belongs in the first half of the sentence instead of the second where you want to place it?

Maybe he is implying: The weren't being towed into the gate...

Aircraft pulled into the gate and set the parking brake. They ground handlers got the wrong towbar and as you can (could) see they start walking away. The marshaller is giving the release brakes signal which they do. Due to the slope of the ramp the aircraft moved forward into the tug, (or as N2264J says maybe it was the residual thrust from the APU).

The only ramper the pilot could see gave the crossed wand signal before walking back toward the plane.
