Default DL MX working on Boeing C-32 aircraft

I was passing through ATL and noticed a familiar aircraft in the DL MX area- a modified Boeing C-32 (in common terms: Air Force 2 minus the VP).

I always thought the Andrews AFB Presidential Airlift Group (PAG) crew chiefs performed maintenance on all Presidential airlift?

Out of curiosity, anyone know if this is the norm? or perhaps a rare occasion where DL mechanics have unique special requirements?

It was there a few months ago too. So I'd guess it is a regular thing for them.

And UAL used to train all off Air Force one's flight crews on the 747. It's not quite as mystical as they'd like you to believe.

C-32s are used for a lot more than flying the veep around, and the PAG isn't the only outfit to fly them.

She is one of many who have the authority to use it.

Delta TechOps has been recognized as one of the leading MRO providors world wide.

I'm not aware of too many Air Force maintanence squadrons capable of doing the MRO work in a timely fashion, so the DOD / AF has continually had Delta TechOps perform the MRO on the C-32 fleet, memory serves me that they've been doing it for at least 6 years, if not closer to 10.

At UAL we've maintained their PW2040's for some time now with their "Unique modifications" as well as the F117PW120's that power the C17's. I haven't seen the C32's in quite a while but I used to see them regularly in Dock 3 at SFOOV. when we were still based at SFO.

That was a contract I didn't mind leaving as they'd take trip ready 747-200's and bring them back 2-3 hours later with worn out tires and leaking struts. They never said when they were coming and walked out to an airplane expecting to go right now. I've cancelled more than one (a BUNCH) of their training flights refusing to stop Maintenence work on an airplane for their "Crash an Dash" sessions. ONCE they took an airplane slated for Ua805 SFO-HKG and wouldn't return it in time to make the flight so the flight got cancelled. MID DAYSHIFT TRAINING CAME TO A screeching HALT PRETTY SOON AFTERWARDS. I always thought they should pilot train in one of their E4B's Or Buy their Own -200's It isn't like they can't afford it!!

Yeah but I kind of miss the in flight refueling module in the sim. That was some good old fashioned fun.
