Default Putting things in perspective

Two planes landed in the UK . The first landed at Heathrow airport from South Africa where it offloaded a bunch of whining, overpaid, underachieving soccer players. Nobody paid them much attention as they slunk away. They didn't even show it on the news. The second plane landed at RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire from Afghanistan where it offloaded seven coffins draped in Union Jacks. The population of the local town of Wooton Bassett lined the streets in respect as the hearses bore the coffins on their last journey. It was given full TV coverage. Kind of puts things in perspective.........

Makes one wonder sometimes how we got to this point where things have been turned so upside down.
I can't remember the last time the National Anthem was played before a tv station went on the air at around 6 am can anyone else?
I reckon with stations being on 24-7 they just don't have the time to do so.
Just getting more sentimental as i get older.

I would hope that they could spare 1-2 minutes a day, but I guess when you look at it for the year, they are losing out on 6-12 hours of advertising which, I imagine, adds up quickly...

A fallen soldier came back to our home town and had to fly through the airport where we conduct our local training.

In addition to the streets being lined with people, our airports Fire/Rescue used two ladder trucks to hoist up a huge American Flag. Police Escorts from the University, and 2 cities went with the motorcade. ATC vectored an American Eagle jet around so that the chartered jet (carrying the soldier) could get in without delayed. The event was covered by 3 local news agencies and was broadcasted live as well as being a top story on the evening news.

All is not really lost with humanity.

The sad truth around here is that people barely even remember that there are people fighting in Afghanistan. How many times do you hear about it on the news? .... nah... I'm mean people would rather switch the TV station if anything about Afghanistan comes on... to something like American Idol. People's interest in politics is as deep as what the politicians care to offer in bribes for votes. The Command change only made the spotlight because it involved gossip and controversy. How many households actually care about the issues in Afghanistan? Very Sad

That's an extra 1-2 minutes Ron Popeil can spraypaint his bald spot every night! Come on! We can't have any honoring America when there's GLH to sell!
