Funny. If you read history books that's what they said about 3 pilot requirements for airliners and three engine requirements for transoceanic flights. Now even B747s are flown by 2 pilots and three engines are no longer the requirement for transoceanic flights.
I think it is very possible that by 2025 or sooner single pilot certified airliners could be flying with the FAA and the EASA approval. Better to prepare for the worst than be caught off guard. They are also working on UAV airliners which requires no pilots. That one may not be happening for at least 20 years. But who knows but if that happens it would indeed be a sad day for this profession. We'd all be flying from a ground based office.
