A professional pilot has integrity: This is the simple adage: “A person is only as good as their word.” If all you do is BS all day about how great you are as a pilot or lie about an answer you don't know, you are going to weaken the bond of trust that is critical to crew coordination. There are few things worse than a pilot who brags he knows everything, or one who makes up answers to important questions.

A breakdown of integrity can be very dangerous in the cockpit. Crew coordination comes from mutual trust and if the crewmembers cant trust each other, than they are not going to work well together when it counts.

3) I'm sick of being scolded for not looking professional. For the last 10 years we've been beaten to a pulp, making a fraction of what we should, and in constant fear for our jobs. Yeah pilots are the face of the airline and should dress accordingly, but in the end it's just human to look like you feel. I don't think you'll find a pilot out there who doesn't feel as worn and wrinkled as the pilot shirt they're wearing.
I guess it is the military side to my training. I iron my pants and shirt every morning (or evening before I go to bed). I am embarrassed to wear my shirt if it has a days worth of wrinkles in it.

If you are sick and tired of being scolded, then change your behavior !!!

Was this meant for USMCFLYR?
If so - I'm not sure where you got the idea that I said that anybody wearing a backpack at work has no integrity; but quote me the part of my post where you THOUGHT I said that and I'll clarify for you. Notice that I didn't comment on any of the examples used in the article - only the headers of the article and the ideas that were presented that others called "drivel" and a "waste of ink".

As a side note - if your company regs allow you to wear a backpack over your shoulder then have at it - if not - then you shouldn't be doing it.
Coming from a majority of my time in the military and the regs at the time in the USMC - you weren't allowed to wear backpacks or carrying backpacks over one shoulder while in uniform. It seems that regs may have been changed - but I still don't do it and probably wouldn't if in uniform at an air carrier. Old habits dying hard you understand.

Hey, this mentoring thing is easy.
OR, you can simply use the back of the spoon to puncture the lid. Works just as good.
