Old Commuter Salaries
I always hear what commuter airlines were back in the day; flying short routes and selling their own tickets. But what were those pilots paid, and what benefits did they have? If any of you worked for these commuters back in the 80's/early 90's, lets hear what you flew, who for, and what pay was.
And if any of you flew the shorts back in the 80's, I'd love to hear what you were paid.

I flew Metroliners back in the 80's. Pay was 18G for F/O and $30G for Capt. All the new Capt's went out and bought a new car upon upgrading. Times were relatively good but it still took 2000tt and 500 ME to get an interview.
Left there for major airline "A" scale of $800/1st 6 months, $900/2nd six month and $49K for second year. Upgrade was 10 years min and not a single person complained about it!

I flew for Command Airways during the mid 80's and senior SD330 Capts were making $60,000 annual (129,000 adjusted for inflation) Tom's Inflation Calculator, and I was paid $15,000 as a new F/O, $32,297 adjusted for inflation.

Just a data point, but in 1988, my new hire ATC salary at the FAA Academy in OKC was GS-7 pay rate; $18,000 per year / $35-ish in today dollars. Within 4 years, I was a GS-14 making $75k, fully certified at Oakland Center (I guess about $140,000 in today dollars, which means the GS scale has not kept up with inflation).
I bought a slightly used 1989 Corvette, red, 6 speed from another controller. Fun times. Great parties.
