who will be around in ten years?

Anyone who has observed SWA operations for more than a few months will have noticed SWA runs its flight operations more efficiently than DAL, UAL or anyone of the big boys. SWA taxi faster than anyone, they always ask for the nearest runway for takeoffs and landings, short and fast visual approaches, SWA pilots ask and receives shorcuts in cruise more than anyone else, and SWA turns their airplane faster than others. Their ramp agents to gate agents are right there waiting on you to park and turn your airplane. In short, they run their airline like some super efficient military flight operations.

and that chicago incident (horrible) was the only incident in sw history, if im correct? And the child wasnt on the plane. Knock on wood. They have won tons of safety awards. Just cause they dont taxi like american or start both engines like airways when ur number 30 for dep, doesnt make them unsafe.

But the MDW was the only fatality.

So, no more B737's ? Just 777 ? Or only 747 / A380 ? Which "low capacity" plane is good, and which is bad?

"Big boys"? Like the guy taxiing @ 5 knots on a crystal clear day. For almost a mile. Why?
Many of the delays are directly attriuted to guys just moving slowly. Taking forever starting their jet, taxiing like little Miss Daisy, landing configuration at 10, flying it like a Cessena, .... Fly like you actually own the company.
Safety is always #1, never to be compromised, buy ***? Why do some guys just move so slow?
Low capacity aircraft is another huge issue with our taxed aviation system. Less smaller jets, replaced with higher capacity a/c (perfebally on the main master seniority list), would go a long way to greasing the system.
As a serious question: does anyone care if i ask for an intersection takeoff in front of you?

Yes, I do mind if you ask for an intersection takeoff. Not only do I find that arrogant, but I find it rude if you try to cut the line. Unless you have a slot time/wheels up time to meet, I don't understand why you feel that you own the airport and should have priority over someone else. Additionally, taking shortcuts like that (even if you have the data to do so), will catch up to you at some point.
I think everyone can agree that Southwest has been the airline to beat when it comes to efficiency. However, those margins have been trimmed considerably as everyone out there has become lighter, faster, and just as efficient. In fact, does Southwest single engine taxi? I've never seen it -- especially in LGA.
The bigger point is this ... if the efficiency margin of your airline depends on the pilots trying to out do one another (ask for the shortcut, take the intersection takeoff, ask for the runway with 5 knots tailwind ... because you can), then we have failed as a profession. We don't need to be fighting one another like that, someone is going to get killed.
