Not to rehash this subject but here are new videos of the damaged walls holding up Runway 9/27 at Memphis International.

Not a good way to start on the same subject, don't you think? You are rehashing the exact same issue from the last thread that was shut down. Anybody who wants to read it, will find it here:

This subject belongs in hangar talk, 'cuz that's what it is. It is not about Cargo airlines, so I've moved it here.
Also, I predict that this thread will very quickly turn into something quite unproductive. At the very moment that it does, it will be locked. Ok? Don't get your hopes up that this will last long.

Understood Tony. Just trying to keep you all in the loop. Here is some news about this story from the local press:
Whistleblower?s Claims Ruffle Airport Meeting - Memphis Daily News - Business, Government, Politics, News, Public Records, Public Notices, Crime Report, Neighborhood Report, Marketing Lists, Research
Man tells Memphis Airport Authority runway will collapse - Memphis Business Journal
Also I had encouraged anyone who wanted to see the damaged tunnel walls beneath Runway 9/27 to call the Memphis Airfield Maintenance line. The update there is they disconnected it.

In this corner:
Kimley-Horn is one of the nation's most comprehensive and best respected engineering and land planning firms. With over 2,500 staff in more than 60 offices, it offers full services in a wide range of disciplines: aviation, the environment, intelligent transportation systems, forensic engineering, landscape architecture, land planning, transit, transportation, roads and bridges, urban redevelopment, water resources, and wireless communications. Clients know Kimley-Horn for the creativity of its solutions and the sense of urgency we bring to each and every project. We take a clients'-eye view of our work, planning and designing to accomplish the client's goals in the most effective manner.
The challenger: One year of college and ZERO engineering credentials.
Wonder who will win?
Don't get me wrong, I love reading a good conspiracy theory, lots of entertainment value and just plain funny what the human mind can conjure. They all fall apart on one key issue though. Why not describe the motive for letting the tunnel "collapse". Surely there must be a very strong motive for one of the largest engineering firms in the US and Fred to secretly let this tunnel "collapse" right under our noses. Five hundred words or less. Your move.

However, Hall added, to ensure the safety of the runway and in response to Cobb’s claims, the airport recently contracted engineering firm Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. to conduct a $70,000, two-month study to inspect the structural integrity of the culvert.
“They determined that it was structurally sound, that it was in good condition and that it was able to withstand the current air traffic on Runway 9/27, which includes the (Boeing 777),” Hall said. “The ‘Triple-7’ has a maximum weight of 768,000 pounds.”
Hall added that the runway also could withstand the weight of an Airbus A380 at 1.3 million pounds.
She admitted there are some uneven patches of concrete underneath the runway. While those might appear to be deficiencies, they are instead the result of extra concrete from the molds used to form them and present no problems.
Mark Manning of Kimley-Horn also spoke during the meeting. He said the firm completed visual inspection and performed “ground-penetrating radar” of the ground, walls and ceiling of the box culvert.
“It was found to be very capable of withstanding the A380 and 777,” said Manning, who concurred with the assessment that the uneven concrete surface was a result of excess from the original mold. “It seems to be in very good shape for being 30 years old.”

The double layer of kaiser broiler foil adds so much to the charm. I wonder if that number was disconnected due to the high number of crank calls? Time to move on, the payoff isn't going to materialize.

I thought about this the other day as I passed MEM. I had a good laugh, looks like the runway is still standing. If it fails, is it going to look like scenes from the 2012 movie where the whole world collapses on itself?

I hate to feed the troll, but I haven't posted in a while and I find this hilarious!!
So I went to the guy cobb website, and found it extremely entertaining. I had to peruse the website to find out exactly what made him:
A: Knowledgeable about engineering, in particular structural
B: Have access to this supposed "sensitive" information
So what did I find:
A: After attending 1 year at OLE MISS in the late 70's early 80's, he left to found the group the Bud Light Daredevils(you can look that up yourselves). After spending several years doing this he returned to OLE MISS in 88 and 89 to study POETRY and CREATIVE WRITING. And in 2001 even had a play take to the stage (congrats not many get to do that, however....) Not one place on his website does it begin to mention the ANY formal schooling in ANY form of engineering. hmmmmm It does talk about the very noble act of Braile Paintings for the Blind, interesting I would have never thought of that. I think you should stick to that. Its noble and not as soaked in attention seeking behavior as this ridiculous witch hunt or your silly "science" lab which looks like a weekly audition for a TV show. Don't think thats gonna happen, the Bill Nye era is over.
B: So apparently he works (hmm disgruntled?) employee with FED EX and was in the tunnels, looked at the wall and said "hmmm I am super smart blogger guy and that doesn't look right and I am always right and people with experience and knowledge are wrong and keeping me down." WOW all I can say is wow.
I defer back to Jungle, please answer what there is too gain from letting this collapse? I happen to sit on an airport authority, I can tell you there is funding out there to get things like this fixed (you know that big government agency the FAA, not to mention the state of TN BOA), so they wouldn't have to pay a dime of their own money, so whats in it for them? hmmmmm
DUDE go back to painting your Braille and doing "science" experiments and stay out of any tunnels, cause damn they are all full of cracks, bulges and water, especially in Pittsburgh, man you should see some of these tunnels! WOW
