Default Final Launch for Space Shuttle Atlantis!

Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off around 3 minutes ago on its 32nd and final mission.

Thank you shuttle Atlantis for all of your contribution to space exploration and scientific research. You will be missed.

GODSPEED!

Yes. Very cool. Although the most amazing thing I've seen was a night shuttle launch. If there is another one, make the time to go see it. You'll never forget it.

I'm going to try to make it to the one in September. It's scheduled for around noon, but here's hoping for a delay!

They're going to donate the fleet for display at different aeronautical museums around the country when the last one retires.

Whereever this bird ends up I hope it's given the respect and dignity it deserves.

Back around 1982-1985 I saw the shuttle take off during the day and at night. Both awesome sights. I was on a Peoples Express flight(remember them?) from Newark to Orlando and the Captain timed it so we could look out the window and see the shuttle as it blazed into orbit.

Doing math in public, it's already doing 870 knots (something isn't right)
