Crashpads!!!!
You'd think with the amount of pilots out there that there would be a TON of crashpad websites online.........I found ONE ! So I am looking for a crashpad in Greensboro (GSO) so if anyone has any info on one that would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

Do not fear! I'm actually in the process of designing a brand new crew housing website. Hoping to launch by the end of this year or early next. Part of the reason you don't see a lot of crashpad sites is because the guy that owns crashpads.com trademarked the word "crashpad" and "crashpads" with the U.S. Patent Trademark Office. Kinda hard to compete with that unless you've got the money to go to court. The name is common to our industry so it's just a matter of fighting it out. Not worth it, though, in my opinion.

I was also under the impression that crash pads are not necessarily legal. After watching the PBS thing re: the colgan crash, I go the impression that crash pads are a sort of "underground" thing which is why they are not easily "visible."

Not entirely sure. Probably depends on the local laws, but it's kind of a gray area, too.

I can understand why they would be considered 'Underground' to the general public and hard to organize into some one-stop shopping website.
Good luck in your endeavor Cycle Pilot - and I hope you find some success.

There is currently a new york times reporter sniffing around our pilot group looking for info on crash pads, junior pilots schedules, and the "party" atmosphere that he believes exists. He, apparently, is looking to break some "news" about crashpads. BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU TALK TO. It is a double edged sword due to their necessity but also something a group of professionals should not have to resort to.
Not saying the OP isnt who he says he is but if you really need to know then ask another line pilot in the crew room. The reporter has already tried talking to at least 5 people at my airline according to our message boards.
