I like the samurai. Always had a lot of respect for them. I can see from your plates that you're no where near moab, but you need to go. I was there for the jeep jamboree this year for the first time in my adult life, i was there when I was 13, and it was awesome. For sure the off road mecca. I personally have always wanted to have a ride like yours but never did. I have a lifted ifs chevy truck and you know all the reasons it isn't a true off roading rig. I've had it for a long time though and it's always treated me well. Here's to you making it to Moab!

However, if you want the lift, may I suggest an Old Man Emu kit? They only lift you 1-1/2" to 2" and they actually ride better than stock suspension, and provide better flex to boot. Just make sure to get the whole package, shocks and all. This is my game plan since my shocks are worn out and my leaf springs are sagging anyway... But I gotta find freakin work first.

I am in the same boat as you almost. I have a 98 XJ that is my daily driver. I dont mind teh lift and stuff... I simpy cannot afford to go offroad, snap an axle, and then have nothig to drive til I can afford to fix it.

One other thing, mud tires look great, but they are loud and hurt your fuel economy. So if it is a daily driver, try and find a happy medium between agressive tread and driver friendly. I have GoodYear Duratracs, and they are kinda loud now that I have some miles on em. You can never go wrong with BFG All Terrain T/A's.
