Default Easter Island anyone?

Hey, was wondering if anyone had any experience using LAN airlines, or had been to Easter Island and had any tips/insight? Planning on taking DAL from ATL to Santiago, then using a ZED on LAN Airlines and spending a few days in Easter Island. Also, has anyone travelled thru Chile since the earthquakes, or had any problems because of it?

It just looks so cool!

I haven't used them, but I have a friend who worked with a customer out of Chile, so he traveled there often. He used LAN and he was happy with them. They seem to use a lot of 767s. Their record doesn't seem bad at all in terms of events, either. When are you going? Aren't the warmer months a bit harsher around the ITCZ?

Planning on going in 2 weeks, I've read that the Fall-Winter months (Southern Hemisphere) are easier for non-rev travel, and apparently the height of the tourist season is December-January for Easter Island. Hopefully the island won't be too crowded, and the flights won't be hard to catch. Didn't think about the ITCZ, and can't say I'm entirely familiar with it, so hopefully it won't be too rough a ride.

Here's a pretty good story of a Delta flight attendant's trip to Easter Island.

I have lived for several years in chile and have a few family friends who fly for lan chile. To be honest they are an amazing airline, their new moto that everyone is first class is amazing. As far as the trip to easter island a few of my friends did it and loved it. As far as the earth quake goes, it wasnt to bad in santiago (where you will be kecthing your flight) and a family friend of mine flew out of their a few days after the quake.
