I wear my smartphone in a belt-clip holster because my pockets are already full of keys which will damage the screen. Considering I look like 90% of businessmen who are leashed to their BB, I'm not too worried about it.
But yeah, a pilot wearing a uniform wearing a Bluetooth headset (especially if said pilot is also wearing a uniform hat) is the pinnacle of toolishness.

There an XJT CA in IAH who has THE biggest Bluetooth I've ever seen in my life. It goes around the back of his head and in both ears. He's also a major d**k. I thought he was going to start swinging at me because I asked him why he shut the airplane down when I was standing right there on the jetway.

Agreed.
The first time I saw a pilot with a bluetooth the word "geeky" popped into my head....but it was less than 10 years ago that the word "pretentious *******" popped in whenever I saw someone walking around talking on a cell phone. Now everyone is doing it. Times change. If we don't change with them we become those "dinosaurs" we always hated 20-30 years ago.

Idiots with bluetooth headsets are the most oblivious of the oblivious when it comes to this behavior. These fools walk around gesturing, talking to everyone yet no one in particular, FAR too loud 99% of the time.
A bluetooth has a purpose - when needing to work on a computer, being on hold, or driving in the car. The rest of the time, they're completely unnecessary.
I try to make an effort to go outside or at least to an isolated area when I have to talk on mine, and if I can't then I make a conscience effort to speak softly. My wife can actually tell when I'm in the office or in an FBO lobby because of how I talk to her on the phone.
It'd be nice of a majority of people could extend similar courtesy to the folks around them...
