Here are some stats for the C-130 off of Wiki
Performance
  • Maximum speed: 320 knots (366 mph, 592 km/h) at 20,000 ft (6,060 m)
  • Cruise speed: 292 kn (336 mph, 540 km/h)
  • Range: 2,050 nmi (2,360 mi, 3,800 km)
  • Service ceiling: 23,000 ft (7,000 m)
  • Rate of climb: 1,830 ft/min (9.3 m/s)
  • Takeoff distance: 3,586 ft (1,093 m) at 155,000 lb (70,300 kg) max gross weight;[21] 1,400 ft (427 m) at 80,000 lb (36,300 kg) gross weight[22]
I seem to remember tanking between 220-230 (below gear/flap speed) on the -130s. One of my most memorable evolutions was tanking low level at 500' over the Australian Outback. My first try was late morning - it was just beginning to heat up - and as I approached my drouge I stopped to stabilize in pre-contact. That basket was moving a good 10' up and down. I looked over at my lead and saw for the first time the angle that we were at in relation to the basket. We were probably at around 36-39k lbs at the time. I couldn't believe we were even going to get our probes into the basket!
