I'm familiar with the history and concept of a Victory Garden, but that's not what the guy on TV was hockin'. He was holding a white cylinder, a tube I suppose, about 2 feet long and about 6 inches in diameter. The suggestion he was making is that when the balloon goes up and you can't get food from normal sources, you can plant your own garden from seeds contained within that cylinder and have plenty to eat.

I just have to wonder what he planned on us eating while we wait for the veggies to germinate, mature, and ripen.

I'll keep an eye out for the ad on YouTube.

This is it:

Their website: Survival Seeds - The Survival Seed Bank Provides a Lifetime Food Solution for Families

An excerpt:
That makes the Survival Seed Bank package a ridiculous bargain. For just $149.00 plus 15.00 shipping and handling (total $164.00), you get enough seeds to plant a full acre survival garden! And... you'll have confidence knowing that you and your family will be able to eat if the Insiders trigger some huge meltdown.
And finally, I found a video: Survival Seed Bank

The script:

Are you worried about the economy? Have you ever wondered if the politicians and the bankers are going to bring the whole thing crashing down? If so, pay close attention, because in an economic meltdown, nonhybrid seeds could become more valuable than even silver or gold.
[Line graph of Non-hybrid seeds, gold, and silver, with nonhybrid seeds going above gold and silver]

Introducing the Survival Seed Bank, the perfect mix of germination tested, nonhybrid seeds. Oh -- the tube is PVC. The ends can be glued on so the whole thing can be buried.

Another quote from the website: "Indestructible Survival Seed Bank Can Be Buried To Avoid Confiscation."

Geeze, five minutes at Home Depot and 20 minutes to stand in line, and I've have my own hand-picked set of seeds, PVC tube, and so on.

I wonder if he lets on that the seeds do eventually age out and refuse to sprout.

Of all the things I might worry would be confiscated after the apocalypse, I don't think my seeds would be on the top of that list.

and they seem to think if you don't have one already, you're too late. You, me, and all the rest of us will be starving by summer

From their website...
Expect soaring prices along with moderate to severe shortages by spring. If you don't have the ability to grow your own food next year, your life may be in danger.
