TV really seems to suck even more lately
In the past week I managed to acquire some H1N1 and I've been watching some tv while at home. I've got to say that I'm really disappointed by all the crap that's on tv. Maybe its the vicodin talking...
Someone decided to remake the V series, which I thought was okay in the 1980s version. Sure, cheesy effects but it laid on the whole aliens with a nazi-type of logo, sympathizers thing going on. This new series, the first episode isn't even over and the cats already out of the bag regarding the aliens plans. There was no build up at all, just bam, heres the aliens and they're up to no good. Is there some mass society ADHD that we can't attempt to build a plot and character development these days?
The wife watches Oprah and I'm amazed by the sort of crap on there. Some lady shot in the face by her husband and survived, and Oprah keeps saying the words "SHOT IN THE FACE". Then, they cover a woman whose face was ripped off by a monkey. What the hell? Is this what the SUV driving soccer moms like? I was almost expecting Oprah to run out on stage and say "you get a new face! you get a new face!" and hand them out to the audience but that didn't happen.
I watched SNL on saturday and I just didn't find any of the jokes funny at all. But SNL has been going down the tubes since the 80s so maybe that makes sense.
This Locked Up Abroad show is pretty neat though. That should be mandatory viewing for everyone who set foot abroad. Some real geniuses on that show.
I know there was a thread on here months ago about the number of ghosts shows...but thats crazy too. Whose falling for this bump in the night stuff?

I believe that there is a lack of imagination in television and in the movies to some extent when you consider that they copy story lines that were made 20-30 years ago .
Fred likes Madmen when he has the chance to watch it and I find that show boring.

I like Hero's, How I met your Mother, Big Bang theory, NCIS, Survivor, Amazing Race. I was disappointed in the discontinuance of The Unit, and Life last year.
I just got DISH, but have been too busy to really explore those shows yet. When I used to have cable(3yrs ago) I loved Discovery channel show's like Deadliest Catch, MythBusters, etc.... Spike TV's show's are usually appealing to me, and sometimes History Channel. The best thing is we got a DVR package, so now when there isn't something to watch on 120 channels, I can go back and watch something I missed.

There is only one "network" show that I watch.
Fringe - Home
The little Mrs. likes Bones, House and The Ghost Whisperer.
Otherwise, The News is on.

For me, it's the local news, Miami Dolphins football, CNN, DSC, NatGEO, TWC, HistoryInternational, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, The Premium Movie Channels---(we've got DirecTV), and InTouch w/Charles Stanley. Every now & then, I'll catch an episode of Law & Order SVU.

One of my compatriots doesn't have cable at his new place, for this reason: most television sucks, and the stuff that he really wants to watch is available on Hulu, or iTunes, or...let's just say, the Internet. It turns out that a 20mbit fiber optic line to the house is sufficient for all of your needs, and buying stuff you actually like is cheaper than many cable packages that will let you watch what you like 2 hours a week and beam crap to the house for the remaining 166 hours a week.
