for the one that haven't seen one six right though, go see it =). It's about Van Nuys and general aviation for the most part.

I'll check out the suggestions so far

Same here, I thought it was pretty sad. Trying to escape the abusive father and then being separated from your brother (who was the only person the kid could bond with).

Plus they had that turtle...

The High and the Mighty is arguably about a love of flying too — Dan Roman keeps coming back for more, although this fact is better explained in the novel itself.

Affirmative. No, we're not ditching, damnit, not as long as two of four powerplants are running. I get goosebumps reading the end or watching the end of the saga. "Five hundred! We're livin'!"

The book is even better, by the way. It and Fate is the Hunter should be required reading. How the airlines flew in those days...wow. It's a miracle anyone got anywhere

One Six Right stands out, as others have said. I didn't know VNY was the be-all-end-all general aviation airport until I watched it Seriously, though, it paints light airplane people in a favorable light - worth watching.

Think someone needs to come out with a good and accurate movie about being an airline pilot, with all the ups and downs in the work and family life. Something to the effect of a 747 pilot sitting happy in his seat, walks into work one day to find out he's been furlouged, goes home and tells his wife and kids. The wife files for divorce because she can no longer afford her Porsche, the kids (and the dog) leave with her, her and her family move back into the house, he gets kicked out, goes to live on a boat, turns into an alcoholic, and meets a Shoulin Monk type figure of aviation, and helps to turn his life around, and then is living large again until the next down turn. Haha
