Default Pilots get discounts on auto insurance

Should licensed pilots get a discount on their car insurance?

It seems like flight training, and flying in general would make a pilot more aware/safety conscience than the average driver. Are there any studies that can show this corralation? Just a thought from a discussion I had.

I'm not sure, I haven't seen anything like that. That is a very good thought though. Plus we could use all the breaks we can get.

Except that, we tend to drive faster than the rest of the populace. I'm sure there's a study on that. Definately don't give discounts to young pilots riding crotch rockets...........that would be insanity.

haha, i've thought about this before. You'd think that if your 18 and some insurance company covers you taking a $200,000 aircraft across the country that they wouldn't mind you driving a car around town.

Yeah I can't say that we drive any safer though. Maybe we're safer due to the training in safety and situational awareness, but everyone else is around us is still stupid and its harder to avoid 2390847 cars on the freeway than it is 10 planes in the pattern. No up or down in the car

On the subject of cars WTF is with rentals being such a pain in the butt. I get out of a 414 but since I'm under 25 they don't want to rent me a car?? Something is broken here. lol

I can't answer that one Khal, but it's probably the same logic that's used when an American 18 year can go fight and get maimed in some godforsaken hellhole of a country, but he can't buy a beer when he gets home!..

Ah. . I like your train of thought skygirl. You're okay in my book, no matter what all the ego foresaken males around this place say.
