thanks for the help. It is a tough call, but I'll probably go with the iPhone. Seems like it would fit me better. The complaints on both phones are pretty consistant here and on-line reviews. Where can you find reliable 3rd party iPhone insurance?

My vote goes out to the Iphone. I don't know what it is with most people, but I find touchscreen just fine, and precise at best. Maybe the haters have chubby fingers, I dunno..
Battery life is dismal though. I use my Iphone as if it were my portable pc; Graphing/Scientific calculators, maps, sport scores, weather, and gps can drain the battery terribly fast.
If you're looking for versatility, go with the Iphone; the number of useful applications available are incredible.

My brother bought his at bestbuy and had to have it repaired so the loaner phone they gave him was a BB, which he used for two weeks. In fact, today he told me: "I just don't understand how anybody could go for the BlackBerry, it's considerably less user friendly. And having real buttons sucks; it's way slower." My dad's BlackBerry also doesn't seem very user friendly. He's had it for almost two years and still can't quite figure it out. Granted, he's over 60 and not tech-savvy, but still that should resonate with you.
Real buttons aren't that great, either. Once you get used to the touchscreen keyboard (about an hour of use,) and start to realize that it's not a phone, but an actual computer the size of a phone, it's remarkable.

I asked myself the same question before I took the plunge. What it basically came down to for me, was voice control, (a huge help when driving the car), and the 3x megapixel camera. I don't own any other type of camera, so paying the extra $100 was well worth it IMO. Plus, GPS using GoogleMaps is a huge help when in the city.

I say this to every cell thread on here.
Verizon's network is FAR superior to ATTs. A friend of mine just converted to ATTs iPhone. We can barely have conversations anymore because of all the dropped calls and poor voice quality ... and she's in NYC !
If having the ability to actually use your phone as a phone is important to you ... without dropped calls and bad sound quality ... then don't go with the iphone. But if you want a cool gadget that does just about everything, go with the iPhone.

I have ATT and absolutely no problems with the network. I drop a call maybe once or twice a month. I don't get how some think ATT has a bad network. They have the largest network worldwide and if not the largest the second largest in the US. I'd have to bet if you are having trouble with your phone especially in a major city then there might be some sort of obstacle interferense such as a lot of metal in your building or something. I always have full reception. If I don't I walk outside and voilą.

No AT&T has an AWFUL network. I switched from Verizon, and while I love the iPhone, I hate the network. I put up with the poor quality, the terrible signal, and the dropped calls because I love the phone. I have all mac computers and having the phone is great.
The coverage and quality at Verizon was 10X better than AT&T. I really miss that. I never had dropped calls. Maybe like 1 or 2 a year. Now I get at least one a day. And I'm right downtown Atlanta by the capital.
However, like I said - the phone makes it worthwhile for me. It syncs up perfectly with my mac computers, and my MobileMe system. I can't imagine life without it.

The question should be iPhone or Droid. Blackberry's suck - they aren't real competitors at all. The only reason they still exist is because of the mass of corporate monkeys that started out on them and don't know how the other smartphones work. Not to mention IT departments use them because they are easy to lock down and manage in large numbers. At&t does suck tho, but the iPhone is the best out there. Verizon just came out with the "Droid". It's a very very very close second to the iPhone, and I see it actually beating the iPhone after a few software updates come out for its refinement. Second best phone on the country's best network - Verizon. CDMA network is not international tho if you fly out of the country. Check out the droid. www.droiddoes.com
Doesn't sync with music as easilly as the iPhone, but it will come. Plenty of potential there and it is wayyyy more customizable than iPhone or BB. Open source development and free turn by turn google maps GPS.
Oh, it's also google android 2.0 OS. Not that propietary Verizon junk. You won't see any Vcast nonsense either. So Verizon didn't lock this down with their counter-intuitive OS's they used to force down people's throats. Good luck on your choice.
