Default Do pilots have a preference in automobiles?

Do pilots have a preference in automobiles? German cars, sports cars, trucks??? I would imagine they prefer cars of high build quality. The interior of some cars seem to resemble cockpits. I have heard repeatedly that airline pilots are actually the safest drivers, and have the cleanest driving records. It that true?

A lot of pilots drive beater cars. Whether by mere economy, or they just don't care that much.

I have found in my aviation experience that most pilots I meet don't give a damn about cars. I got into flying because I like operating high power, high speed vehicles, and therefore I like fast cars and motorcycles too. Im surprised more pilots don't feel the same way.

I think its hit and miss, they either love cars or they could care less. My wife and I are car people.

SP nailed it. That's the one I was thinking of. Thought three pages was short.

I like driving a nice car, and I get to "car sit" a german sport sedan which is great to drive. Rides nice, has good get up and go for being the smaller displacement model, comfortable, and gets very good mileage.

But when it comes to my own vehicle, why spend so much money on something I don't get to drive everyday?

That's pretty much it. As well as why pay so much for an asset that loses value so quickly?
