Default Whacky Landing in Tegucigalpa, Honduras

This is a video of a former USAirways 737-300 landing in Tegucigalpa... the whole thing looks unstable from the moment the video starts. Fast, high, and lot's of floating.

I'm just wondering if "extraction of the sheepskin seat cover from their colon" is covered under their medical.

When conducting check rides, it often amazed me that a decision was made to continue the approach when all indications were that the aircraft was unstabilized.

When I queried the pilot as to why a decision was not made to go-around, the answer was always. "I thought I could make it." But I would say, "It was an unstable approach. Why would the landing still be attempted? What gain was there to make the landing?"

The response was sometimes silence, or "I don't know", or instance that the landing could be made safely.

That was beyond ugly. Tried to salvage the landing and ended up floating half way down. You can see when he jammed on the brakes at the end - tail comes way up in the air - got it on one wheel turning off at the end -overall, that sucked.
