Default Interesting lights

Hi there, on past occasions and especially early in the morning just as the sun rises to the east I notice a light up in space and it does not have the characteristics of a star , is it the ISS that I,m looking up at?
Has anyone else seen this ?
ISS =International Space Station

Could be the ISS or any satellite which are both common to see just before sunrise or sunset. If what you're seeing moving pretty fast, it's most likely in orbit. If it's stationary, it's probably a planet. Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter are all visible on a regular basis.

Google "ISS viewing" and you should find the NASA site that will let you enter your lat/long and tell you when it's visible from your location.

Hi Ally,

If it's not moving, you're seeing Venus in the morning sky to the East

Add on to HSLD's post: The ISS moves across the sky. It's not stationary. This site takes your IP address and plots where you are in relation to the ISS. Hit the 5 day prediction for sighting opportunities.

Also, I've found that on clear nights, if you hold a mirror just right, you can see Uranus...................... sorry

This sight will give you when the ISS or Space Shuttle will be overhead around sunset or sunrise. It will give you the times, duration and direction to look. These times are after sunset or just before dawn, that way the ISS is illuminated by the sun against a dark sky. Very easy to see. My kids watch for this at least once a week. Great fun to see it go by.

Look on the left side under the "Sighting Opportunities" banner, select country, then state and finally nearest city.

Looks like a star moving across the sky,

Yes, but better if viewed when there is a Full Moon.
