Default Fact or Fiction: Health Care

"Individuals who decline an offer of affordable coverage would pay 2.5 percent of their incomes as a penalty, up to the average cost of a health insurance plan."

So, if I'm recalled to work and decline the airline's coverage, because I'm on and like my wife's plan, I lose 2.5%...What Tha?...over???

"After December 31st of the year the Health Care Reform Bill is signed, new employees will only be offered the public option."

Sweet!

If you don't write your representative, you deserve what' coming,,,

p.s.- please don't denigrate this thread with references to any political party affiliations...thank you

This is an incredibly interesting topic...not sure it belongs here, but...whatever.

I have always been a firm believer that Health Care reform should have been done a long time ago. But this seems a bit like a bullish tactic to get the big insurance companies to self correct themselves. Kind of a curve ball.

Edit: And no, I am not a supporter.

I agree with SD, probably "pilot health" or "money."

However, smooth, I have already written mine.

The way I understand it is that as long as you have a health care plan you won't pay the penalty. It's if you deny health care and have no other plan in place then you will pay. Kinda like if you're in the union you pay dues, but if you opt out of the union you still pay dues
