Exclamation NY TIMES wedding announcements, :(

Ok, I dunno if this is the right place but I need to vent. It may be the massive chip on my shoulder, but reading the Sunday Times Wedding announcements drives me bananas, anyone else?

Glancing through the announcements It is Cornell this, Yale that, Dr. of this, Dr. Of that, Harvard here, Standford there, so and so's grandparents are owners of "blah blah" mansion on 5th ave. etc.

It is by far the most egotistical, self-embellishing garbage I have ever read in my whole life. I think it is nice if people want to let the world know they have found their "one" and have decided to marry each other, but why for the love of GOD should we care whom they are related too, or how much more successful they are then the rest of the world?

Sorry guys, Im just bitter but anyone else find it irritating?

Maybe its just my dismal failure at life that is the real problem

First of all, how are you "butter?"

There are many things in this world I don't like so I just avoid them. Perhaps you can try to avoid reading this and so you won't be so buttered up. I mean, one person's garbage is another person's soulmate.

I understand that your wife makes oodles of money? Nothing wrong with that. You may not want to write about it in the NY Times, but your friends here are happy for you. We take comfort that you can continue to be an FO and live on poverty wages!!

Joey, there are more important issues in this world than Old Money.

While I agree that it may be somewhat over the top, your post comes off as a bit "sour grapes" IMHO

I'll be the first to admit it

Ill stop crying about it, but it just rubs me the wrong way..........I don't know if its the fact that I am 28 and live like hobo, or the fact that I have student debt that will never go away, or maybe its the fact I might be furloughed in the fall, no wait , maybe its the fact that I can't take my fiancee out to dinner because I like playing airline pilot and make no money

God Im bitter ..............,

God Im bitter ..............,
A guy once told me that we are exactly as happy and successful as we make up our minds to be. That has always stuck with me because it is just so true. Maybe you just need to change your attitude and think of things differently. Success is in the eye of the beholder.

Aren't those paid spots? I don't think the NYT has a beat reporter looking to find socialites that are hooking up.

Old world tradition of the rich and famous is all.
