Some here feel that us malcontents should have a separate thread. Are there any disappointed dissuaded disillusioned pilots out there that wish to blow off a little steam?

Any horror stories?

Getting a little lonely in here Skyhigh? My guess would be that most disappointed, disillusioned pilots would not be hanging out a lot of this site.

SkyHigh, you're right. I'm absolutely disallusioned. Thanks for finally convincing me of such and allowing me to vent.

I mean, the FBO crew car last week was only a beamer. And it had 11,000 miles on it. I mean geeze. What type of operation do they think that their running. Plus there wasn't a free CD in the CD changer!

Oh and at dinner in NYC, there were no mints when the check came. I guess the waiter thought that since each of us on the crew had ordered dessert, we didn't need them, but we felt differently and took it out of his tip.

And two weeks ago on the overnight to Tampa that I was allowed to take my wife on, there was only one terry cloth robe in the bathroom. I had to walk around with a towel around my waist! Goodness!

Let's also not forget about the ramper that took over 5 minutes to bring the catering out to the plane in Tucson earlier this month. I expect more timely service. I mean, geeze we only had 9 meals, 4 salads, a fruit tray, desserts, coffee, tea, two bags of ice, a case of beer, and newspapers. We made sure to take it out of his tip too.

And my GOD! I had to work last month! The company made me go on OVERNIGHT TRIPS! Me! A PILOT! Can you believe that?!? How dare they! And then they want me to have to submit an EXPENSE REPORT for ANYTHING I NEED TO BUY while on the road! Talk about making me shuffle paperwork! Don't they know that I'm only here to fly planes and have a lot of days off?

How's that for ranting? I've got a lot more about how horrible my life/job is... want more?

In all seriousness, you get what you expect and if you have reasonable expectations, achievable goals, and an upbeat attitude, you'd be surprised what will come your way.

All of the people that I know that have great attitudes and a bit of flexibility, have landed incredible jobs in this industry in a reasonable amount of time (3-5 years). They certainly have had some stumbles here and there, but they don't let it get them down, and move on with a POSITIVE tone and land upright every time.

Rookie mistake, you should have made your wife walk around topless with the towel around her waist.

Josh, you did get screwed! A BMW?! That's it? My crew car a few weeks ago was a Jag...with about 70 miles on it. And that new car smell...it really sucked.

What really sucks, is because of the massive amounts of jet fuel I purchase on my personal credit card, I had to go spend the cash rebate on a new 06' Suzuki motorcycle. I told my boss what a piece of **** he is for "buying" it for me...the loser.

After I was furloughed from UAL, I had to spend a total of about one day finding a corporate job...in the Pacific Northwest no less. And to think I only get called about 5 times a month to help out with other flying around the area. There are just no flying jobs anywhere (tongue in cheek).

Thanks for letting me vent on how horrible a choice I made.

PS Josh, did you at least get to wear the cute little slippers?

I have to say,
When I have to go somewhere in my uniform iit really sucks. I get stopped by all kinds of folks who pester me with silly remarks like " wow you are a pilot, that is really cool"
Then there are always the hot young guys who want to " go for a ride"
I mean, jeez, what a terrible curse!!!
( !!!!!!!!!!!!)
Hoo Rah FJosh, well said about the attitude and perseverance. to quote another person,
"Our glory days are really up to us,not the unions or the airlines"
