User fees would destroy GA, period.
Some people even travel to the US just to have the opportunity to fly.

Since many people see pilots, GA pilots in particular as wealthy people, they think it wouldn't be a big deal. Just wait till they see towns that are dependent on GA airports disappear.

not sticking up for user fees at all, but from what I understood them trying to pass during the Bush years was only fees for turbine and turbo props using the ATC system. Have they changed it to be ALL users of the ATC system, or am I wrong on this altogether?

Doesn't matter who foots the bill. GA already pays huge fuel taxes that the airlines don't see. They're paying for their usage of the system as it is.

I am NOT endorsing user fees....however....if they drive up the price of initial flight training, reducing the number of new pilots....will they drive up pilot salaries...??...simple supply and demand if you ask me....Just a thought....

This is a good theory. Another theory is that the skies may become more dangerous if people avoid filing to avoid paying, or maybe charter companies, flight schools, rescue airlifts, etc.. could be hurt by the extra financial burden, which will in turn lower the revenue for the ATC system due to less usage.

And how much would the fees be?

.

$3.99 for the first minute, $1.99 for each additional minute.

Probably since there will less pilots coming in. But just think of the thousand if not millions of people that will not have jobs due to FBOs closing etc.

I also think the value of having an A/P will go down since the only people hiring will most likely be the airlines and they will probably be lowering salaries.

Airlines are multi million dollar corporations and most FBOs are tiny establishments just trying to get by. I hate business.

If you have taken the tine to read this thread this far, then you have the time to write your congressman/woman to help protest user fees. Make sure you explain why it is important to the future of billions of dollars injected into an already failing economy. This just could be the final nail in the coffin of the economy if it passes.

Here is where you search for the congress person from your area.

mshunter's link is good, but it won't tell you what district you are in (for Congress).

Here are the two government sites:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contac...m.cfm?State=FL

https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml

I'm writing them right now (and also going to address the delay in the Mil-IP to CFI conversion!!)
