Said it happened yesterday as they were headed to Sun N Fun

Plausible scenario.

Gotta love also

1. First reaction when engine quits.
2. Headsets of student and instructor.

Its real. This guy works at the flight school I work at. It almost seems like a publicity stunt, but if it is, he's got balls.

Also, if that had been me, I'd be quite reluctant to release that video so quickly until an aviation lawyer had looked it over. You never know what the FAA can pull out of their rears to hang you with.

But, had that road not been clear, things would have turned out much worse. A little help from above, I'd say.

Default No gas?

Must of ran short on fuel? It would make a good CRM training film. It also it would be a good FAA film on emergency landings.

Looked kinda hokey to me, why did the engine fire up and quit again? They run out of fuel? I dunno.... Could be real, but like I said, just seems hokey

Was that an FBO training aircraft? Is that standard now to have cockpit and external videos on all training planes? I know it said that it was a homebuilt - I guess I'm just surprised that it had cameras all over the place. Heck...I can't get my taping systems to work very well! Plus - It certainly doesn't seem smart to be posting such a thing on the internet or turning it over to news agencies. I'd have to watch the tape again, but with the engine shut off - doesn't the landing speed, or the speed they keep up until the turns off into the parking lot just look fast? It has been a long time since I flew a C-? (and never a homebuilt), but I would think that a GA airplane with no power would roll to a fairly quick stop. In any case - if it is for real - lucky for them that fairly big road they landed on didn't have any traffic on it for the entire time they were on it.

Well, I did some research and did not come across anything concrete.

As for me, I think I am gonna have to call Shinanigans...

If you watch closely the instructor keeps turning the key off. The final emergency approach was caused by the intructor turning the key off again. I'm not sure but I don't think you are allowed to land on public roads lol. I'm not sure how or why you would fake this. I think they were just stupid.

He did once on short final, probably trying to secure the airplane for the impact. Before that it quit on it's own and each time it restarted, it was because they hit the starter. Probably figured the engine was going to quit again, better to just shut it off now. Still, Jury is out on the video. Real or not it was a bad idea to post it on the internet.
