Is that the 1/72nd Heller kit? Noticed the flaps/slats extended. Nice touch!

Question: are the extended flaps and slats a part of the kit, or did you fabricate them yourself and add them to the model?

Not exactly sure how DH built his model, but I can touch on the basics...

The flaps are molded at 0 degrees and can be cut out of the wing then reglued back on at what ever setting you like. The slats are retracted, so you make your own slats from a sheet of styrene and glue them on.

There are some who get into really intricate techniques for more detail, and I'm sure DH will speak for himself, but those are the basics.

I built the TWA "Twin Globe" version of this kit, but just kept it configured clean and put it on a custom stand.

Thanks Jet, I appreciate the response. It looks like a lot of technique and a ton of patience needed to build it. Either way, DH did some real nice work on his 707.
