MEL stands for Minimum Equipment List. It is usually a very large book in the cockpit that contains a list of things that can be broke and still dispatch the plane.

When something breaks, maintenance looks it up to see if must be fixed or can be "deferred by MEL". If they don't have to fix it, it is listed as inop on the FP/R (Flight Plan/Release), by MEL #. Sometimes MEL's have certain operational restrictions that must be followed. Sometimes there are limits on when they must be fixed.

I think he is saying that "viagra is required for dispatch", ie, every pilot must carry it on a trip. All I can say is, "why carry it if you don't need it?"

Exactly. And hey, some four-stripers are middle-aged ... they can't always go 4-5 rounds a night like the rest of us can. Right?

Oh jeeze Crash, you're beginning to strut like a rooster on a hot pavement.

I'll take the middle-age ones. I fall in that category, now that I'm 45, although I'm told I look 10 years younger.

Well, since you asked...

I prefer Skygirl's approach.

But I'm happily married, so that might skew your results.

Young, no Viagra, 4-5's
vs
Older, Viagra, 1's

I'm starting my own category:

Middle age, NO Viagra, 2's

[writing down great rooster/pavement quote] ...guess I needed a MUCH bigger [rolleyes] there. You're pretty frisky there yourself Skygal! This thread is starting to remind me of the classic "3 ages of line pilots" - think I got this from a FA's gossipy "fly me" -type book:
To age 35: looking for a bed partner during RONs
35 - 45: looking for a decent night's sleep during RONs
After 45: just looking for a decent BM during RONs...
