All I have left is brown then black but I'm sure that will be a year and a half from now or so. The muscle acuity is very comforting and I've noticed my confidence is higher. Not to mention my wife is very thankfull for the higher endurance lol. There is something to be said about knowing you can defend what is yours.
I agree the confidence that comes with it is a fantastic side benefit. After the long time that I took away from fighting it was hard to get back as I mentioned earlier. Taking a hit without freaking is one of the toughest aspects of fighting. That is what I love about Krav we get on the floor and we hit when we fight. Obviously when we are practicing techniques we don't slap the students around but on the fight floor we go hard. Keeping your head up and your eyes open while taking a combo to the face and head takes some real world thumping now and again but it sure is nice to know you can do it. I'll get smacked in the mouth or the nose every once in a while from a student doing sloppy stuff and it just doesn't affect me in the least like it used to. It still hurts obviously but with enough training your reaction to it is different than somebody who hasn't been trained to take a hit.

Well, I got my blackbelt today. The hardest thing I've ever done. What I thought would take at least a year and a half ended up only taking 9 months. I worked hard, studied the details, and prevailed. Now for an Epsom salt bath.

Congratulations.

That is one heck of an accomplishment.

I gave up boxing and anything else which involves routine head impact after it became apparent what the long term risks are. A high school football buddy played college and NFL, but had to retire very early after one too many concussions. He is significantly impaired today and only getting worse.

A very real concern. My grandfather was a professional light heavy weight boxer in the 1930's and somewhat in the 40's. He developed Parkinsons at a relatively early age. The medicos never would say that the two were totally linked but they wouldn't discount it either.

You wouldn't have heard of him as he fought for the "other" side.
