I like Marvin Lledo's suggestion.

All these kids did a great job. Even those in kindergarten drew better than I do now! And I'm sure none of them got thrown out of art class, like I was, because of a lack of taste and talent.

I remember is was a school kid that won a contest to design the state flag.

I did not mean to be insensitive to the pilot group as a whole (or to the 30 out today specifically), but was merely commenting on the efforts of these kids. Any reasonable person, however, has to wonder how many pilot jobs could have been saved with the paint money.

You comment didn't strike me as insensitive. Completely different subjects.

Two thoughts do come to mind; why is it any time an airline is in trouble they repaint all the airplanes? USAirways (twice), United, TWA and Delta. Not saying this is what is happening at Alaska since it is only one aircraft, but it did bring up the thought.

The cost to repaint a medium-sized airliner, if I recall correctly, is about 30 thousand each.

I'm no marketing expert but I assume that it is a ploy to make themselves more marketable and thus increase business ,thus making more money, so hopefully they can expand and hire more people (or at least get back to where they were).
This is probably wishful thinking.......but best of luck to them.

If the plane was suppose to be repainted anyway, does it really matter what colors they repaint it in? Does a livery like this cost more than the standard Alaska livery? That isn't a rhetorical question, I'm really asking.
