Request for postcards from a little boy with cancer
A little boy named Kyle in my hometown of Bellingham, WA is battling terminal brain cancer. He will never become a pilot, but of course every little boy loves planes, trains, cars, etc... This is NOT a request for financial donations, so please read on.
Kyle loves getting/opening mail, and has requested that people send him holiday cards of any denomination to keep him busy and his mind off of his serious illness. If you or anyone you know has ever battled cancer, you appreciate the value of having distractions to keep your attitude upbeat. Though I have no problem sending Christmas cards, just like most nice gestures during the holidays - things tend to dry up the minute the new year starts. I too am guilty of this, when in reality we should be helping people year round.
When I saw Kyle's request for cards, I thought of you guys and some of the amazing things that have been accomplished on apc. I was thinking: how cool would it be if this little guy received post cards from pilots from wherever we live or some of our destinations with a little 'hang in there' note? All it costs you is a minute or two, a postcard, and a stamp.
Please read the article from our local paper and send this guy a card or postcard. I know it would mean the world to him. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas to all of you.

I think he will love getting these cards from around the world. Most kids not dealing with a terminal illness would enjoy this. I hope everyone out there with their international overnights takes a few minutes to send out these post cards because those will be the truely unique and exciting for him.

Awesome idea - thanks so much for posting it.
For what it's worth, I read the article, and Kyle also asked that the cards be addressed to his big brother, Nicolas, as well. Apparently they're really close and they read the cards together.

One of the "perks" of being a moderator is the ability to do a little social engineering by moving threads around and quietly trying to influence behavior. I have always thought cargo guys go to very interesting places, and I'm sure Kyle and Nicolas would love getting postcards from Shanghai or Almaty. Since I will never go to these places, I'll do my part and send him a postcard from Seattle! Heck, might as well drive up there myself and deliver some APC stickers to him.
