Turkey Alternative
I was born in a country where the citizenry has never seen a real, live turkey before, but only in pictures or tv. So our family has developed a tradition wherein the Thanksgiving meal is usually something other than a turkey. We favor prime rib and absolutely love HoneyBaked hams. There is a small token turkey on the table, but it ends up as a casserole or Turkey Ala King for the next few days.
Does your family have turkey alternatives or are you a traditional family?
Note: this is MY thread, so no talk allowed about furloughs, mergers, ATC, or that overpriced third runway at SeaTac. And nothing about career alternatives either.

My sister doesn't really like turkey, so for the last couple years the family has made her (and whoever else wants some) a small ham.
Personally, I love turkey. My dad smokes one every year. Falls off the bone and tastes fantastic.

I thought turkey WAS the alternative...
When I go to the Safeway store and look for my German sausage, I always see that the Turkey sausage has half the fat and calories. Thus, Turkey IS the alternative.
I suppose the alternative to Turkey is Tofu, but I just can't go there....
