APC Advertising
To the mods and ownership:
I know APC recently had a change in ownership, and its likely the desire of the new owners to have APC bring in revenue and make profits to justify the expense of purchasing a website that provides free content.
That said, the new ads that have been embedded in many forum pages are quite annoying. I've been wearing out my Firefox Adblock Plus trying to keep from seeing them, some of which have been unblockable.
Again, I know APC is free and the ads help offset costs and bring in profits...but an explosion of advertisements has been part of the downfall of Flightinfo.com and helped fuel the flight to other forums...like APC.
Thank you for providing this website...perhaps there is a way for the website to generate advertising revenue without resorting to "block-proof" advertising for those who don't wish to see it.
Respectfully....

I for one would actually prefer a paid APC membership fee in the range of $15-35 a pop if it would replace the banner ads all over the place. There could be a trial period of a week or so to let casual users who ask a question or two and then disappear, continue to come and go.

For what its worth, I also use Firefox, with the NoScript add-on. The only "ads" I see are the one on the top and side, the "Advertise with us" things. I dont see a single other ad on here, or for that matter, on most other websites I go to.
Try it, learn it, love it.

I agree, the blinking ads are annoying. Internet Brands is aware of your complaints, and last time I spoke to them they said they'll be looking minimize the flashing ads.
The reason you're seeing a lot of out of country ads is that the advertisers are existing advertisers at www.pprune.org (another IB property), and were given a trial run here. I expect the ads to become more relevant in the months ahead. After all, I don't think a flight school in Australia will be paying up to advertise to a bunch of Americans.
Don't worry, there won't be any for-pay access here. If you look at the other IB web sites, the community sites like APC Forums are monetized using ads only.
For anyone interested, here is a list of the sites IB owns:
