Default Aircraft Graveyard

This is so sad. Do the airlines still own the planes? Why not recycle them? Or find some use for them? Over in Eastern Washington, a group took a bunch of rectangular ship containers and turned them into housing for migrant farm workers. Maybe there are other ways to still wring some use out of these once proud birds.

Most airlines don't own their planes to begin with. Useful parts are removed but there's not much you can do with a herd of 737-200s.

Generally speaking, if the plane is still in service with someone else, they'll keep the planes in storage until all the usable parts are taken. After that, the hulks are cut up for scrap. In that way, they are recycled.

BTW, keep your hands off the DC-10's. We need the parts
