Talking AF Guys: Don't Do This

How not to refuel...

That'd be hard to explain to MX.

I know someone who used to fly for the Canadian Air Force and he would never admit this happened to him all the time. Something in his fighter pilot gene that precludes any confessions to personal deficiencies.

I was thinking of that too.

Happens way more often than we would like. Sometimes it is the pilot's fault (too much closure) and often the problem lies with the refueling pod (take up response lacking). Always a worrisome endeavor especially when you really need the gas!

PS. Does the basket retract a little at around 0:44? That would be very strange.

I saw that happen on a 3 ship out of PI going to Diego ferrying two F-15's to Kadena! Same scenario-pilot blames the boomer for slowing down, boomer blames fighter jock for speeding up...
Anyway,180 back to PI and they wanted to foam the runway because the basket was trailing the tail by 40',hanging on by a thread.
A/C says no way! Basket was ground to a half-circle by the time we stopped.
That was the only time this avionics troop got to help change a drogue.
