Default Concealed Handgun Flyers

How many of you carry while flying? I'm about to go on the road for a year flying camera contract work and will be all over the place. 99% of the time I will be alone with about a quarter million $ worth of equipment on board. I have a locked box to keep it in when I'm in areas who do not share/support reciprocity with the state that I have my permit from (TX). Any advice or words of wisdom from those of you who carry while traveling would be great.

be careful. If you have to divert to another country (e.g. Canada, Mexico, or New Jersey,) you may find yourself locked up.

You may want to talk to an attorney about this, and not just rely on advice from an anonymous forum.

This thread has bad written all over it.

If you take a gun with you internationally you better be aware of the country's laws or face long jail time or execution.

And if you are asking advice about carrying guns onboard aircraft, this isnt the place to talk about it.

I dont know any photographers who carry guns with them to protect all their camera gear when traveling abroad. And if you arent traveling internationally, why are you taking a gun anyway?

I will be remaining inside the lower 48 per contract. There are 5 cameras and each are worth ~50k + the system that runs them. I know it can be done and be done safely. I was just looking for advice for those (if any) that do currently carry while flying in the US. And I use the term "carry" as taking their firearm along with them, not on them.

Parking at an FBO ain't like parking at Walmart. Something about controlled access to the ramp.

I'd take more insurance on the hardware and use good judgment with where you park the aircraft.

Are you concerned about theft or personal safety?

Concerned about both more so for personal the equipment is insured. For a year I will be out & about the country and in & out of hotels, some in/near bigger cities but more out in remote locations near smaller towns. I'd sure hate for something to happen and wish I had what I'm licensed to carry. You never know, better safe than sorry.

Gun laws are different in every state and cities have even more restrictions. I wouldn't even try it. There is a difference between concealed carry, open carry, loaded, etc. You are about to enter a can of worms with no easy answers. I carry when I fly, but that is different.

I know the worms are comin' out, haha. I still have a month before I'm off and up out. I know my rights, I just want to exercise them legally. If at all possible, even if I have to keep it in a locked box separate from ammo at all times I'd like to at least have it with me in case I need it.
