Concealed Handgun Flyers

Liberal? Who's liberal? I own a lot of guns, I hunt, I carry, etc. I couldn't be more conservative (Conservative Baptist + Constitution Party), but I would not take the gun on the job he is describing. Liberal has nothing to do with it.

Thank you all for your input. I will take both sides into consideration. And if any of you currently travel with your firearm privately. Feel free to PM me, I would like to get an inside point of view.

I wouldn't exactly call myself a liberal either. I am about as far to the right as one can be without being an extremist. I have had a CCW permit since I was 18, been in law enforcement, carried a weapon in a lock box and even carried when flying interstate 135 freight. I was able to do it because I knew where I was going to be every flight.
Unfortunately, there are parts of the US that are not very friendly to carrying a weapon and I personally think that it would be a pain to haul that thing around. In reality, having a gun in the airplane is no big deal but if the average person at an airport found out you had one, it is probably going to explode into a big situation.

It is amazing how many people will cling to Article IV, sec. 1 and 2 of the Constitution....for various things including gay marriage, your right to carry should fit in just fine to every state as the article does not exclude any state... but of course it doesn't work with that.
In plain text 2nd Amendment and the above Article of the US Constitution should provide your right to carry to any state.. however in the nature of some certain lawyers running for President this ceases to be case.

Take it. Check out handgunlaw.us for all the info you need on where you can carry legally. I wouldn't keep it locked in a box either, but instead close at hand. Kinda defeats the purpose if you can't get to it quick. Take a box with a lock with you and if you need to airline anywhere you can just check it in your luggage. Very simple process with specific info available on each airline's website. If you get stuck going to NJ or NY then you can always overnight ship your gun to a friendlier place. Other states may not permit you to carry, but won't mind you keeping it locked in its box. In almost every state your hotel room is considered your home and you can carry your gun however you would like inside.
If you are flying part 91 the FAA isn't going to have any problem. Airport ramps aren't anything to worry about. You will only be bound by state laws. Looks like your TX permit covers 31 states. You can get non-resident FL and Utah permits by mail and increase your coverage.
You may find more like minded people to ask advise at glocktalk.com or opencarry.org.

Carry it! I also encourage anyone who does not have a CCW to get it before the election. You never know with the clowns we have is Washington! Even if you would not carry, it’s still a good way to learn laws and basic shooting skills. I am finishing my class today!
