Default Jumpseating without CASS?

Gotta get from south Florida to CAE for Thanksgiving. Spirit decided they'd only fly that route on the days I didn't need to go, and it looks like UPS has two a day. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? (And no, I don't have a car, and yes, I already pondered walking).

Well get the non-rev phone number for the carriers that are flying to your destination and try to list yourself. If you have AOA badges and company ID then it shouldnt be a problem. I used to fly for a 135 operator (not in cass) and I never had a problem jumpseating. Just make sure you call ahead of time, be curteous, dress to impress and always talk to the captain. If he say's no thank him anyway and move on to another carrier.

You must be using the 'Jedi mind trick' to jump without CASS. I commute and my ugly mug (face) is checked on CASS all the time.

Um, you only need to be CASS (which stands for Cockpit Access Something Something) approval to occupy the cockpit jump seat.

If you are "jump seating" in the cabin, pursuant to whatever jump seat agreement your company has with other carriers (or whatever non-flightdeck seat you can negotiate with the captain), you don't need CASS, nor will your "ugly mug" be checked all the time.

I never tried to to sit in the cockpit. You call and meal list yourself. If there are seats available then 9/10 your gonna get a seat. But, the decision rests with the captain.
I'm a left seater for a 135 operator and I've yet to decline boarding to a fellow pilot (CASS approved or not) if there are open seats.
Usually you have to call and list a few days in advance but keep in mind each carrier has their own rule. If you list at the counter or call last minute expect the SSSS on your boarding pass.
Overall introduce yourself to the Captain and FO, thank them for the ride and thank the lead FA. Afterall it is a privilage not a right to hop a ride.

Called UPS' number anyway. The lady said you need to be in the CASS system. Period. But either way, I unfortunately can't rely on showing up the day before Turkey Day and negotiating with the CA. I think I'm just going to ship myself overnight - hell, that will get me on the UPS flight.
