There's a B-17 that's been buzzing by the house for the last two days. What an absolutely cool site! Found out its' name is "Aluminum Overcast" and is on tour right now.
I don't have pics, but thanks to google, I found someone nearby my town, who took pics of it going by. Some are fantastic shots.

When it was here last week, I happened to be driving on the road where i could see it parked. Turned around, walked over, and was able to watch it start up...The smoke and noice, awesome! Then went home and watched it from my porch making its way around the pattern.

I was running on the track at my base one afternoon a couple of months ago when a B-17 entered the traffic pattern. I had to stop and watch it, what an incredible sight, too bad more of them didn't survive!

theres been a b17 at my airport for some labor day festivities at the American air power museum in FRG. I'll admit i wasn't too angry over a 20 min hold at the runway to wait for that, and a few WWII bombers to finish their low passes over the field...quite a sight.

That's fantastic! We also have a b-17 turn up in northern California every year in the spring on tour. I'm not exactly sure if this is the same one, but boy are they loud. Last time I spotted one, they flew about 300 feet over my house!

The wife and I were on the C&O Canal bike path around Harper's Ferry, MD on Sunday and saw it fly over several times. The coolest pass was when we were eating lunch at an outdoor restaurant and a young boy saw it and said "look dad, a B-17!" It was nice to see a young one keeping up with some outstanding aviation history.
