I just purchased my first camera(Canon T1i, it was actually a present), but before I go off in the deep end and start taking random shots, does anyone have any reading material/website recommendations to educate myself. I basically just want to learn how to produce quality shots using lenses because it all looks amazing to my virgin eyes.
At this point im shooting in "ca" and "p" modes. Please be gentle, Im new this
Maybe they have photography for dummies?
Thanks

This is the book that started me off. Initially, I got it from the library. I liked it so much that I bought used from Amazon.

Nothing wrong with any of the camera's automated functions until you get the feeling of what "you" want to photograph. But as you become more familiar with it's settings, features and capabilities you'll then take the next step. I recommend Michael Reichmann's site: The Luminous Landscape . On the left side is a tab for tutorials. Almost everything you'll need to make great images is there. The largest hurdle will be within yourself. Your own vision for the most part shows up in your images. I can, with some effort and desire, recreate Ansel Adams, Ed Weston etc, etc. But they're not my vision, nor original. Enough rambling, contact me with questions, I'm happy to help.

Cannon AE-1
Showing my age here. I still use the Cannon AE-1 I got in 1979. I still like shooting in B&W as well as color FILM. I do have digital point and shoot, but still like "the old fashion way" as well.
