Let's just home there isn't an emergence of LCC (Low Cost Coffee) shops that ruin the whole industry.

Of course, if you want to work as a LCC shop you will ALREADY have to be qualified on the expresso machine to get the job there.

And remember - The LCC coffee company will be competing more directly with the drinking fountain than other coffee shops.

I truly believe Starbucks is the "devil". Don't like 'em and their dirty practices of monopolizing the market. They've shut down family-run coffee shops that have been in business for eons of years, all over the US by making demanding stipulations in their leases/lease renewals, thereby shoving out their competitors. Kharmas coming back full circle to them!

PLUS - You can't franchise a Starbucks. When you work there, barissta or manager, you work for Starbucks. So the little guy wanting to find a niche after retirement can't do it......yet they're forcing the little guy out.

I can't stand Starbucks coffee....way too acidic and burnt tasting. I like going to home-town coffee shops when travelling, or just get the java at Mickey Ds.

You are sooo right. I love DD, plus some Dunkin Donuts (the one in LGA) gives you a crew discount. $1 medium cup, no tax.

If we had the mass transit to go along with Europe and Japan we wouldn't need vehicles. Then again, take a look at their taxes. Those systems take a ton of money to start and to continue running but that's for another thread.

The part they didnt say is that they are opening another 400 stores next year. They are just closing stores that are across the street from one and another

To be fair, many Starbucks stores are under franchise ownership or other types of licensing agreements. However, you are correct that the "little guy" cannot be a store owner. Then again, it would be difficult to justify a McDonald's franchise as "little guy accessible." I believe new franchisees are paying around $1MM for the license agreement alone.

But I agree with you on the Dunkin Donuts coffee. Pretty good for a donut house coffee.

I didn't know that. I did not know they allowed franchises. Has this always been the case since Starbucks was founded, or has it only recently changed......perhaps I was told wrong????

It's funny that you mention that, seeing as Kirkland buys Starbucks beans.
