Inner child officially dead? Oh, please. Lighten up, buttercup. My "inner child" is not dead or wounded, nor does it need a hug.
I'm actually totally with the message in the movie. Don't fall for over-consumerism, over-consumption, over-automation, or being poor stewards of our environment. I'm not a tree-hugging liberal by any means, but I am the one that turns the TV off, takes care of the recycling, etc.
My problem with the movie is that it is drool inducing, shockingly boring. The most entertaining part of the whole movie was the animated clip before Wall-E started that had the magician and the rabbit. Now that was fun and entertaing. Me and the kids laughed.
Now, I may be accused of having a dead inner-child, but my very much alive real children we're also not impressed with the movie. And they are experts, 'cause they are children. Nine and five to be exact. We own just about every Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks movie ever made, yet this one didn't live up to the hype for them, either.

Furthermore, the irony of the movie is that it satirizes large conglomerations (Buy n Large, or whatever it was called). But it was produced by a large conglomeration, and I'm sure that it will be marketed heavy (with all the merchandise to go with it, clothes, lunch boxes, plush toys, etc.) by Wal-Mart and Sam's Club, another giant conglomeration.

Hey sorry Stonefly...my comment wasn't aimed at you, it was just an over statement of how much my inner child got a kick out of it. If you don't like the movie, you don't like the movie. There have been plenty of movies that others love and I hate.
Oddly enough, there seems to be very little merchandising of Wall-E stuff. I stopped by the Dinsey store and they only had a couple of t-shirts. There's nothing in any of the department stores I've been to, expect a video game. Some friends of mine in Ireland where able to pick up cool little action figures. So you know what that means...ebay is filled with overpriced Wall-E stuff.
