Default What are the min. requirements for your job?

Do most airlines require a high school diploma to be hired? I'm trying to figure out if the entire aviation community has lowered its standards, or just the FAA. I went to their ATC hiring website, and nowhere in the requirements, do I see a high school diploma as a prerequisite. I find that amazing, if it's true!

ATC has never require a college degree to my knowledge...possibly because they hire a lot of ex-military controllers, who are msotly enlisted personnel.

Major airlines generally require a degree (formally or informally). While a few folks still get hired without one, it lowers your odds significantly.

Regional generally have required only HS, but college will usually make you more competetive if hiring is tight.

They used to require a 4 year college degree, or a combination of college and work experience totalling 4 years - or - previous ATC military experience. I don't know any controller who isn't at least a high school graduate.

I wouldn't want to be on a plane that was being flown by someone who rocked out of high school. On the same note, you probably don't want your aircraft being separated by someone who didn't pass Consumer Math class, either....
