Cooler than average April--Global What?

Anyway...another beef that I have against global warming is that back in the 70's, everyone thought our gas-burning, etc. was actually "global cooling." Turns out they were wrong, just in time for another crop of doomsday environmentalists to conjure up "global warming."

That said, I am all for conserving resources and living cleaner. But I don't think it's an issue of "quit burning gas or we melt the icecaps in 10 years."

All it takes is one domino.
And by the way, my father & grandfather have been in the oil business all their lives...I have had exposure to it by association. I will tell you that I will have grandchildren graduating from college before we even need to start thinking about worrying about an oil shortage. Yes it can be solved by drilling, you have no CLUE what you are talking about, I can assure you. Only about 1/3 of the world has been explored for the production of oil & gas and we are getting by just fine now. IE: Northern Russia/Siberia = virtually unexplored and expected to have huge potential, off-shore Eastern South America = virtually unexplored and predicted to be another Gulf Of Mexico, Alaska = proven reserves and almost impossible if not impossible due to the Government, off-shore Eastern Florida = proven reserves but not open for drilling due to State & Federal Laws. It is tree hugging freaks that put up all of the barriers and red tape that makes it so difficult to extract the energy that Mother Earth has provided us with. Exploration & drilling would solve this issue, no doubt in my mind. It might take a short while for the ball to roll, but when it rolls it's got a long way to go.
Global warming is a myth, and exploration & drilling need to commence to calm things down.

I have been a registered Republican for 28 years. In every presidential election to date, I have voted Republican. Every senator, and as far as I know, every congressman I have voted for my entire life has been Republican.
For the first time in my life, I will not be voting Republican. My wife is the same way. It is not that my views have changed much. I actually like McCain more than any Republican president I have voted for (yes, even Reagan). He is a clear thinking Republican and he does not vote just along party lines, but he follows his conscience and from time to time crosses the aisle.
I just refuse to continue to associate myself with all the backwards thinkers within the Republican party. This series of posts is just one example. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Who in their right mind does not believe that global warming is happening and humans are causing it. I am willing to bet that everyone who posted on this thread saying global warming is a scam votes Republican. I am certain of it. How ignorant are some people? They know the facts are out there, and for whatever reason, they choose to ignore them. We wonder why people from other countries think Americans are ignorant. I just cannot continue to associate myself with people who think like that. They make us all look bad. I will not longer associate myself with a political party full of people like this.
Fortunately, both presidential candidates have a strong stance on protecting the environment. Both candidates know the seriousness of global warming and both presidential candidates have a plan to deal with it. McCain is promoting a strong cap and trade system (this is traditionally a liberal view). Both candidates know that alternative energy needs to replace oil as the primary source of energy in this country. Both of them believe in investing in renewable energy. And both of them are against drilling in ANWR. Fortunately, McCain does not hold the same crazy views as many of his supporters that global warming is a myth, and our energy crisis can be solved just by drilling for more oil.

I realize this topic is difficult to discuss without bringing politics into the equation, but I'm asking everyone to refrain from making this a partisan political debate, especially as it relates to the November elections.
There are many forums that allow political debate, but APC is not one of them. From the TOS:

Topics Not for Discussion
There are currently NO forums that provide a venue for discussing politics or religion. While DreamLaunch Media Ltd. and Airline Pilot Central embrace the diversity the world has to offer, these subjects often are very emotional and there are many different views. In our experience the wide range of views and emotions rarely contribute to a harmonious online community or beneficial contributions to the piloting profession.

In each general elections, I have voted, regardless of party, for the candidate that protects life.
