Airplanes rarely seen in movies

Have to like the old Hollywood stars. (Baseball stars did it too, what kind of career numbers would Ted Williams have put up w/out WW II)
Jimmy Stewart got kicked back a few times until he finally gained enough weight to enlist. Did the 8th AF gig flying B-17s, entered the reserves post war, made B/G in 59 and retired in 68.

My favorite scene was the TomKitty rolling in-behind the Zero and then falling off. Rumor control says that the guy actually departed but it looked so good that they kept it in the movie!
There is a question worth discussing over a beer and a stack of papers for Naval Command and Staff College >G, Could the nimitz Battle Group defeat the Japanese Imperial Navy in World War 2. >G<
USMCFLYR
PS - Don't forget all the AWESOME A-1D SkyRaiders scenes in many flicks - including Flight of the Intruder and the one where the guy is shot down and spend's time in a VC prison and eventually escapes. LOVE THAT SANDY!

Guess I'm not the only one that liked "Final Countdown."
More interesting than if the single aircraft carrier could defeat the multiple enemies, what would happen to the crew once the war was over? "Hi, we're here from the future and we're here to help." I suspect they'd be shot on sight, especially their German and Japanese crewmembers.
Back on topic, in Airplane! there is a 747 model that goes through a wall in the opening sequence. A 747 is currently in use by the military, although I don't know it's military designation, only its call sign.

Airplane!
USMC: I'd forgotten about the Tomcat falling off, but I've seen it: his roll inputs are FULL deflection, yet he goes the opposite way....
Jedi:
The only 747 in Airplane! was the jet being marshalled to the gate, and the ground crewman got distracted by the "Where's the tug?" question, and pointed "Over there." It then crashed into the gate-area.
The airplane that Ted Stryker was flying was a 707. Replete with prop-sound.
Military 747s:
Air Force 1, designated VC-25A. Based at Andrews.
National Emergency Airborne Command Post (NEACP, proundounced "Knee-Cap") E-4A (I think it is still A). Based at Offutt.
Airborne Laser Platform: don't know what this one is designated, nor based.

F-15, F-4 and F-5 in the movie "Red Flag: The Ultimate Game". Not the cheesy one from a few years ago on IMAX but the early 80s one.
B-52 in Doctor Strange Love
EE-66 and O-1 and O-2 in Bat-21
T-38s and others - The TV show - Call to Glory
T-38, F-104, F-4, A-4, others - The Right Stuff
F-5, O-2, tail of a B-52 in Apocalypse Now

My dad was in VF-191 "Satan's Kittens" during the Korean War, and would be ****ed if I didn't mention the F9Fs in The Bridges at Toko Ri. It was shot on the Oriskany while he was there.
I, too, liked the Spad in Rescue Dawn.

Maybe you're talking about Jimmy Stewart, flying a B-47. I think it was Strategic Air Command. Stewart actually was a pilot in the Air Force Reserve, retired as either a Full Colonel or 1-star General.
Strategic Air Command had both the B-47 and the B-36 (even talked about the fuel leak issues).
WHat about Howard Hughes' Hell's Angels? A great 30's film
