Dan,
Did she like D-M? I am a total aviation geek, airport bum, etc. My wife and I are both military and she likes flying with me to travel, but could give a darn about airplanes. It's hard to get a kitchen pass to go work on my plane, especially when the annual is due. But I use the "travel in the plane" excuse to get away to the airport every once in a while.

E Coolidge St. is an aircraft display area (bus tour). West of the intersection with S. Safford Ave, there is a 122' wingspan four engine RB-57F next to a 65' wingspan two engine B-57C. Shows the dramatic difference between the two aircraft. Only 21 RB-57Fs were built. NASA currently operates two (or three). One has been observed in Afghanstan.
Brings back old memories.

RB-58 & Pima Air Museum
I'm pretty sure that -58 is in the Pima Air Museum (near DM). Sadly, not too many left.
I saw it there in 1987; the engine pods were just empty tubes, but this shot looks like they have J-79s in them.
There is one on display at Kelly AFB, just inside the Main Gate. It got picked up/dropped upside down by a tornado a few years back, volunteers put it back together, and from what I've seen from a distance, they did a nice job.

"Hustler" was an appropriate name

I did the DM tour last May. While and awesome tour, it is very sad to see all those once proud airplanes sitting there dead. The only time I smiled was when we were driving down the "death row" or whatever it is called where they have 1 of each airplane and a sign saying what each airplane is, and you get to one empty spot where you only see 3 tires and the sign says F-117

Yeah, I've been there many times. Brought a C-141 there. We wrote in chalk all over it. Said a big goodbye to the Flight Engineers. Now I can really be somebody on the C-17, instead of the whipping boy. You know what winglets are? The international symbol for "NO FLIGHT ENGINEER". We do have an optional crew position for them on the C-17. On Z row, right EPC, 2-10 AMP circuit breakers labeled FE and Scanner. Just kidding. Had a lot in common with those guys.
