Default Accident repercusions?

Hearing a radio report of an airliner sliding off the taxiway after landing this weekend prompted me to wonder;
Does 'management' chastise pilots when such events happen?
Sounds like winter can be a b---- err, a character-building season!

There is certain to be an investigation by management as to why the event happened. Most often(at least at a union carrier) that's as far as it goes, if the crew was acting prudently. There may be an observed "line check" to insure the crew observes the company (and FAA) standard practices, or maybe not even that. It is possible that the CVR reveals that they were doing something foolish, or a witness testifies that they were taxiing at V1 with BA poor, some disciplinary action might take place. If the individuals have had a habit of tweaking management over the years, that is sometimes factored in as well.

Thanks for the overview!
No need for this info,as I'll never be in such a situation, but it helps me understand the industry better.
