Default Space Shuttle

So if you are the commander of the space shuttle for a two week mission, do you get to log PIC the whole time?

Yes but then again when would that really matter? You aren't exactly using the program as a stepping stone to something else.

I wonder how much RPIC (Rocket PIC) would be worth in a Legacy or UPS/FedEx interview? I think SWA has an ex-astronaut as a pilot - wonder if he included his shuttle time in his total time and how he classified it?

Only if he is the sole manipulator of the controls

Hoot Gibson retired from SWA about a year and a half ago when he turned 60.

That would be the SIC... the PIC (by nature of being the "assigned captain" could log PIC).

Is there an STS type rating, or does it fall under "Powered Glider"?

It is MER...three engines for launch (five counting solids), two for orbital manuevering.

And it probably wouldn't matter how much time you logged...ANY shuttle time at all would get you a job at any major I'd bet.

When I interviewed, they told us they hired 3 astronauts, but Hoot Gibson was the only one they named.

Also, when a buddy interviewed, he said there was a space shuttle guy in his interview class who wasn't hired. This guy shovels alot of BS so I dont really know if I believe it.
